Last Year's Maui Trip Winner Sent Us A Few Words About Her Recent Trip To Maui!

I am last year's grand prize winner of a spa vacation to Maui, round trip airfare for two, hotel accommodations at a 4 1/2 star hotel and a car rental. We were greeted at the airport with orchid leis, and treated to a luau on the beach. My journey started on April 29th, 2010 when I got a phone call from Barbara at Potandon Produce informing me that I had won this great trip. Potatoes 101 - Planting

Ever wondered about potatoes? For such a seemingly simple vegetable, there is so much that goes into the planting, growing, harvesting and packaging of a potato. Potatoes are grown around the country and the world, however, in North America, Idaho is the largest producer of the tuber with Washington a close second. In Idaho, potato planting takes place in the spring right after the last frost and the seed is just a potato tuber cut into smaller pieces. Have a potato sprouting in your kitchen? Plant it in some dirt! That sprout will soon be a potato plant. After just a few weeks, seedlings will emerge with tubers beginning to take shape below the earth within about a month. Stay tuned for more fun potato facts!
